The short answer is no, because our tracking relies on image-based technology.
Mailsuite is an email tracker that uses image-based tracking to notify you when someone opens your email, clicks a link, and more. This is how most popular email trackers work. To track email activity, Mailsuite inserts a 1x1 pixel image in your tracked email, and when the recipient’s email server loads that image, Mailsuite documents that as an email open.
However, there are limitations with this technology, and they exist for all email trackers that use image-based tracking. The first is that image-based email trackers cannot track recipient activity if that recipient has opted out of image downloading. The second is when you choose to send Plain Text emails.
What is a Plain Text Email?
A Plain Text email is an email that only includes text. It does not include images or graphics, links or URLs, HTML coding, or any other formatting. Since our tracking is image-based, you will not be able to use Mailsuite for Gmail in Plain Text mode. Plain Text mode strips all formatting and images, thus disabling Mailsuite’s tracking pixel. For this reason, you must use rich text formatting in Gmail instead of plain text formatting.
How to Disable Plain Text Mode in Gmail
If you would like to switch from plain text to rich text formatting in Gmail, follow these steps:
- Click Compose to draft a new email.
- Click More options (the three vertical dots) in the bottom of your email draft.
-
Uncheck Plain text mode to enable rich text formatting
Using Plain Text Mode with Mailsuite
As previously stated, Mailsuite is unable to track emails sent using Plain Text formatting. If you attempt to send a Plain Text email while Mailsuite is enabled, you will receive an error message that states Mailsuite does not support Plain Text mode and that your emails will not be tracked.
To ensure you get the most out of Mailsuite’s powerful tracking technology, always disable Plain Text mode.
